Hillsdale, Mich. - The home team in the annual Lewis University / Hillsdale men's basketball showdown has held a distinct advantage as they have won the last six contests between the Chargers and Flyers.
Sunday afternoon's contest was no different, as Hillsdale used the strength of a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds from Tim Dezelski and an 11-1 run in the second half on their way to the 71-65 in-region victory over the visiting Flyers at Jesse Philips Arena.
Dezelski and Hillsdale center Nick Washburn (9 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists) combined for 22 of the Chargers' 32 rebounds on the afternoon. Lewis grabbed 20 rebounds as a team.
With the win, Hillsdale improves to 3-0 on the campaign, while the Flyers fall to 1-2 on the season.

Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill.,/Riverside-Brookfield) posted a season-high 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting. Senior guard

Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) added a season-best 10 points.
As a team, Lewis shot 50.0% (26-for-52) and only turned the ball over seven times against Hillsdale. Conversely, the Chargers also shot 50.0% (23-for-46) from the floor, but shot a blistering 45.8% (11-for-24) from three-point range. Dezelski (3 treys) led four Chargers with at least two three-pointers on the afternoon, including Brandon Pritzl, Derek Schell and Cody Smith.
Lewis found themselves trailing by seven at half, as Hillsdale took a 35-28 lead into the intermission. Lewis opened the second-half with a 17-9 run, led by six points from Nelson and five from Jackson, to give the Flyers the 45-44 advantage with 11:31 remaining in the contest.
Hillsdale quickly regained the 47-45 lead with a three-pointer from Smith at the 11:17 mark, but Jackson would answer with a lay-up at the 10:43 mark to knot the game up at 47-apiece.
The Chargers, led by four points from Brandon Pritzl, then went on their 11-1 run and a 58-47 lead they would not relinquish. Dezelski and Washburn each added a bucket, while Ryan Choiniere drilled a trifecta during that 6:56 stretch.

Scott Trost said. "We've played a very tough non-conference schedule against some of the best teams that the GLIAC has to offer, and I think we're growing up as a team."
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Nov. 30), as they welcome Cedarville to Neil Carey Arena for their home opener. Action is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
