Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University freshman forward
Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) (St. Charles, Ill./St.Charles North) led five players in double-figures with a game-high 18 points, as the Flyers earned the 79-70 non-conference victory over Cedarville in their home opener at Neil Carey Arena on Friday (Nov. 30) night.
Nelson made his first seven field goal attempts and went 8-for-9 from the floor to finish with his 18 tallies. Lewis sophomore guard
Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) (Lyons, Ill./Morton) had 13 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals, while sophomore forward
Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) had 12 points.

David Niggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) each scored 10 points in the win. Niggins notched a career-high and team-best six rebounds, while knocking down a career-high three trifectas.

Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North).
"The guys off the bench really gave us a big lift, including
David Niggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central)," Trost continued. "Overall, it was a really good win against a quality opponent that has played a very tough schedule."
With the win, Lewis improves to 2-2 on the campaign, while the visiting Yellow Jackets fall to 2-5 on the campaign. The victory snaps Lewis' two-game losing streak.
Cedarville senior guard Austin Foote scored the Yellow Jackets' first 10 points of the evening and finished with a team-best 17 points, including three treys. Cedarville senior guard Daniel Hickman came off the bench and finished with 12 points, including four three-pointers, while senior guard Zach Brown also had three three-pointers and finished with 10 points in the loss.
As a team, Cedarville converted 54.2% (13-for-24) of their three-point attempts. Five different players for the Yellow Jackets knocked at least one attempt from beyond the arc.
Despite shooting 53.5% (23-for-43) from the field, Cedarville's downfall was 19 turnovers that led to 26 Flyer points. Conversely, Lewis turned the ball over just seven times on the evening, including one miscue in the second half, and had 17 assists.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (December 6), as they welcome Olivet Nazarene to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 PM tip-off.
