Lewis Men's Hoops Meets Olivet Nazarene On Thursday Night

Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM at Neil Carey Arena.

The Lewis University men's basketball team continues its five-game home stretch on Thursday (Dec. 6) night, as the Flyers (2-2) welcome Olivet Nazarene (5-6) to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:30 PM tip-off.

ALL TIME SERIES - Lewis holds a 10-3 advantage over Olivet Nazarene in their all-time series.

LAST TIME OUT - Lewis freshman forward Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) led five Flyers in double-figures with a game-high 18 points on 8-for-9 shooting in the 79-70 win over defending NCCAA National Champion, Cedarville, on Friday (Nov. 30) night.

PULLING IT OUT - The Flyers were victorious over Cedarville, despite the Yellow Jackets knocking down 13 three-pointers. The last time Lewis won a game with their opponent making at least 13 trifectas was a 79-76 come-from-behind win over Indianapolis in the GLVC Tournament on February 27, 2010.

LAST TIME WE MET - Lewis scored 27 of the game's first 32 points on their way to the 79-53 win over Olivet Nazarene on December 10, 2011. Lewis freshman guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) collected 23 points to lead the Flyers in victory.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE - Lewis has won their last 29 non-conference home contests, dating back to a 59-56 loss to Grand Valley State on November 26, 2005.

BULKING UP - Lewis head coach Scott Trost's 2012 recruiting class of Paul Baumgart (Canton, Mich./Canton) (6-foot-7), Jared Ellis (Marion, Ill./Marion) (6-foot-8), Brad Foster (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) (6-foot-8), David Heckman (Greenwood, Ind./Roncalli) (6-foot-6) and Nelson (6-foot-7) all stand at least 6-foot-6.

HONORING HIS BROTHER - Lewis senior guard David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) wears the number 12 in honor of his late brother Kevin who played for Trost at Illinois Wesleyan from 2004-06.

IRON MAN - Bryant has played in all 93 possible regular-season games for the Flyers in four seasons.

TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK - Lewis has committed just 34 turnovers in their first four contests this season, and have had three games with less than 10 miscues. The last time Lewis had more than three games with less than 10 turnovers was during the 2008-09 campaign when they achieved that feat five times.

AND DISHING OUT THE ROCK - Lewis dished out 17 assists against Cedarville, with only seven turnovers. The last time the Flyers were +10 in assist/turnovers was in a 94-52 win over Trinity International (11/22/11) with 22 assists and 10 turnovers.

MOVING UP THE CHARTS - Trost (104-76) needs eight more wins to pass former Lewis head basketball coach and Director of Athletics Paul Ruddy (111-75) for fourth in school-history for career victories.

JUST PLAYIN' - All nine players that have seen action this season are averaging at least 10.8 minutes-per-game.

AT LEAST WE'RE CONSISTENT - Lewis has scored 137 points in the first half this season and 136 in the second half.

WELCOME ABOARD - Trost announced on November 20th, that he has signed Harrisburg guard Capel Henshaw to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Flyers. As a junior, he averaged 16.3 points and eight rebounds-per-game, helping the Bulldogs to a record of 28-5 and a berth in the 'Elite Eight' of the IHSA Playoffs.
