Brett Bridel can call this road trip a complete success, as the Flyers won their second-straight regional match-up with a 7-2 victory over Lake Superior State at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center on Sunday (Feb. 19) morning.
"The guys played well today," Bridel said. "These courts are pretty fast, and I thought we adjusted nicely."
With the win, Lewis improves to 2-1 on the season, while Lake Superior State falls to 1-3 on the campaign.
Lewis senior
Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) earned a pair of wins over the Lakers on Sunday. Lapimaa opened with a 6-1, 7-6 (5-7), 10-6 victory over Felipe Baptista at No. 1 singles. He would also pair with Flyer freshman
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) for the 8-2 win over Baptista and Joao Gaberiel-Olivei at No. 1 doubles. Levandi would also be triumphant over Gaberieal-Olivei at No. 3 singles, with a 6-0, 6-0, whitewash.
Flyer freshman
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) also claimed two wins, with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Travis Toth at No. 2 singles. He would team up with senior
Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) at No. 2 doubles for the 8-2 win over Josh Houska and Dane Fosgard. Wojnarowski also defeated Houska, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.
Lewis junior
Jesse Hardacre (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) earned the remaining victory for the Flyers, with a 6-1, 6-1 beating of Fosgard at No. 4 singles.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 25), as the Flyers will face William Jewell in the opening match of the NAC Invite, hosted by Saint Joseph's, in Michigan City, Ind. First serve is set for 12 p.m. (CST).
