Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's basketball team gets their third crack at No. 1 Bellarmine (24-2) on Friday (March 2) night, as the Flyers (17-10) meet the Knights for a 6 p.m. tip-off in the 2012 SCHEELS GLVC Quarterfinals at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
Friday's game will be broadcast live on WJOL (1340 AM) with Mark Vasko providing the play-by-play analysis and WLRA (88.1 FM) with Shane Gustafson on the call. Live stats and free video streaming, provided by the GLVC, can be found at www.LewisFlyers.com.
ALL TIME SERIES - Since Lewis entered the Division II ranks, the Flyers hold a 37-24 advantage over Bellarmine in their all-time series.
LAST TIME WE MET - Lewis rallied from an 18-point, second-half deficit and cut Bellarmine's lead to 71-69 with 1:37 left in the game, but the No. 1 Knights held on for the 80-75 win over the Flyers on February 4, 2012.
LAST TIME WE MET IN THE TOURNEY - Lewis guard Sammy Bacino hit a pair of free throws with six seconds remaining to help the Flyers to the 51-50 win over Bellarmine in a GLVC First Round contest on February 28, 2002.
THIRD TIME IS THE CHARM - Friday's match-up against Bellarmine marks the first time since the 2007-08 season that Lewis has played a GLVC opponent three times. Lewis also lost their ifrst two contests against Northern Kentucky that season, but defeated the No. 1-seeded Norse, 80-76, in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament on March 4, 2008.
LAST TIME OUT - Lewis, led by a game-high 19 points from senior point guard
Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling), led from start to finish in the 75-68 victory over UIS in the GLVC First Round showdown on Sunday (Feb. 26) afternoon.
FIERY FRESHMAN - Lewis freshman guard
Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) posted a game and season-high 26 points in the Flyers' 82-74 upset of No. 7 Kentucky Wesleyan on February 9th. That is the most points scored by any Flyer freshman in the 21st century.
ALL-GLVC HONORS - The GLVC announced on Tuesday (Feb. 28) that Jackson was selected as the conference Freshman of the Year, as the Bolingbrook, Ill., native is averaging 12.8 points-per-game in his rookie season. McClellan (15.9 ppg.) was named to the All-GLVC Second Team, while senior center
Marty Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) is on the inaugural All-Defensive Team.
FAB FROSH - Forward
Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) is tops among GLVC freshmen with 4.9 rebounds-per-game. Jackson is tops among GLVC rookies, averaging 12.8 points-per-contest - which is also the most by a Flyer freshman since Lewis Hall of Famer Larry Tucker averaged 14.9 points-per-game in 1979-80.
SHOCK THE WORLD - The last time Lewis beat the No. 1 ranked team came during the 2003-04 campaign, when the Flyers claimed the 82-77 win over Southern Indiana on January 2, 2004 in Evansville.
TOUGH SLEDDING - Lewis' 10 losses this season have come against teams that are a combined 140-48 (.745) for the 2011-12 campaign.

50/50 - Lewis is 9-0 this year when they have a field goal percentage of 50.0% or better. Since the 2006-07 campaign, the Flyers have a record of 55-10 (.846) when they shoot over 50.0%.
EXTRA EFFORT - Lewis' win over Indianapolis on January 26th, marked the Flyers' second overtime win this season. That is the first time a Flyer squad has accomplished that feat since the 2007-08 campaign when they went 2-2 in free basketball. The last time Lewis won three overtime games came during the 1993-94 season.
HONORING HIS BROTHER - Junior guard
David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) wears the number 12 in honor of his late brother Kevin who played for Trost at Illinois Wesleyan from 2004-06.
FROM WAY DOWNTOWN - Lewis is 25-8 (.758) since 2006-07 when they knock down at least 50.0% of their three-point attempts (min. 5 made).
FROM WAY DOWNTOWN (PART DEUX) - Lewis is currently shooting 41.4% (188-for-454) from long range, which would be a Flyer single-season, school-record.
GETTING TO THE LINE - Lewis has attempted 63 free throws over the Flyers' last two games, knocking down 79.4% (50-for-63) of their attempts.
DEFENSIVE CLAMPS - Lewis has held 10 opponents this season to under 60 points, which is the most by a Flyer squad since the 2001-02 season when they did it 11 times. The Flyers have tied last season's mark of holding three teams to under 50 points. The last time the Flyers held more than three teams to under 50 points, came during the 1985-86 campaign, when they did it six times.
