All season long, Lewis head women's tennis coach
Brett Bridel has stressed the importance of doubles play and it was never more evident on Wednesday. After two doubles matches, both Lewis and Chicago State had each won a match and were fighting for their second doubles win, which would give them one team point.
Lewis sophomores
Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and
Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium), however, were up to the task, as they claimed the 9-8 win over Lia and Lina Tejoprayitno at No. 1 doubles.
"Winning the tie-breaker at No. 1 doubles and getting the doubles point gave us a lot of momentum heading into singles play," Bridel said. "We played pretty well today."
Lanstiak also picked up the 6-2, 6-4 win over Karyn Emeralda at No. 1 singles, while Kranczicki earned the 6-3, 6-0 win over Lina Tejoprayitno at No. 2 singles. Lanstiak has won her last 23 singles matches, while Kranczicki has not been bested in her last 16 showdowns.
At No. 5 singles, Lewis freshman
