Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 47 Lewis University women's tennis team will be firing on all cylinders entering this weekend' s GLVC Tournament, as the Flyers picked up their ninth-straight win and 20th overall in the 8-1 non-conference win over Olivet Nazarene at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex on Tuesday (Apr. 17) afternoon.
"We need to keep working on a few things to prepare for the conference tournament, but I'm loving the effort that I'm seeing from all the ladies," Lewis head women's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said.
With the win, Lewis improves to 20-2 overall, while the Tigers drop to 8-8 on the campaign.
At No. 1 doubles, Lewis' tandem of
Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and
Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) claimed the 8-3 win over Taylor Stephens and Aurelie Hascoet. Lanstiak also defeated Hascoet, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Kranczicki picked up the 6-0, 6-1 win over Stephens.
Lewis' No. 2 tandem of
Katie Hargrove (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) and
Brianna Markgraf (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) dropped Tiffanny Aguirre and Ashlan Allison, 8-3. Hargrove also was victorious over Allison at No. 3 singles with the 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win, while Markgraf emerged with the 7-5 triumph over Aguirre at No. 4 singles.

Bayley Brown (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) (Evansville, Ind./Evansville Central) beat ONU's Lindsey Peterson, 0-6, 6-1, 10-2 at No. 5 singles, while sophomore
Kendra Mills (Elmhurst, Ill./York) (Elmhurst, Ill./York) picked up the 6-1, 6-4 win over Chelsea Hays at No. 6 singles.
Lewis opens up the GLVC Tournament with an 8:30 a.m. first serve against Quincy at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
