No. 32 Southern Indiana Edges No. 37 Lewis Men's Tennis, 5-4

In a battle of nationally-ranked Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents, No. 32 Southern Indiana claimed sole control of the GLVC East Division with the 5-4 win over the No. 37 Lewis University men's tennis team at the USI Tennis Courts on Friday (Apr. 6) afternoon.

With the win, Southern Indiana improves to 16-2 overall and 3-0 in GLVC action, while the visiting Flyers are now 13-3 on the campaign and 2-1 in conference play.

Lewis was on the board first, as the No. 1 doubles tandem of Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) and Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) defeated USI's Michael Kuzaj and Santiago Lopez, 8-0. Lapimaa went the distance at No. 1 singles and fought for the 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Juan Quiroz.

Lewis senior Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) also went the distance at No. 5 singles with the 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over Diego Gimenez.

Lewis returns to action on Monday (Apr. 9), as the Flyers head to Michigan to square off with Grand Valley State for a 2:30 p.m. (EST) first serve at Jenison High School.
