No. 7 Columbus State Drops No. 22 Lewis Women's Tennis, 5-0, In 'Sweet 16'

Flyers end their season with a record of 24-3.

The magical run for the Lewis University women's tennis team has come to an end, as No. 7 Columbus State snapped the No. 22 Flyers' 13-match winning streak with a 5-0 victory in the 'Sweet 16' at the EP Tom Sawyer State Park on Wednesday (May 16) morning.

Lewis ends the 2011-12 campaign with a record of 24-3. Columbus State (28-2) advances to the 'Elite 8' and will take on the winner of No. 1 BYU-Hawaii or Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday at 9 a.m. (EST).

"We had a great season," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said of his Flyers' post-season run. "The 'Sweet 16' was a great way for our seniors to end their careers and also a great experience for the rest of us to build on."
