Lewis Women's Volleyball Extends Win Streak With Victory Over McKendree

Krumwiede and Perschnick had 13 kills each against the Bearcats.

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis women's volleyball team defeated McKendree, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23), on Friday (Sept. 28) to extend their home winning streak to five matches at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers improve to 9-6 on the season and 5-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play while the Bearcats fall to 6-9 overall, 2-4 in the GLVC.

"It was a great game, with a good crowd," Lewis women's volleyball head coach Lorelee Smith said. "We did a lot of the things we scouted from the beginning and we finished strong."

The Flyers were led by Jen Krumwiede (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) and Carly Perschnick (Dwight, Ill./Dwight Township) (Dwight, Ill./Dwight Township), who each had 13 kills in the three-set match.

Freshman hitter Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) and senior libero Mary Carroll (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) added 10 digs each, while sophomore setter Leigh Barea (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) (Battle Creek, Mich./Haper Creek) had 37 assists and 11 digs.

Lewis is back in action when GLVC foe Bellarmine comes to Neil Carey Arena on Saturday (Sept. 29). First serve is set for 3 PM.
