Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's basketball team scored 32 of the game's first 40 points and never looked back, as the Flyers routed Rockhurst, 87-52, in a Great Lakes Valley Conference battle at Neil Carey Arena (Jan. 12) on Saturday afternoon.
10 different players recorded at least one basket on Saturday and seven players scored at least seven points, leading to a season-best 34 buckets for the Flyers. The 87 points is also the most scored by Lewis this season.
"This was a good bounce-back win for us," Lewis head men's basketball coach
Scott Trost said. "Offensively, we moved the ball a little better, we trusted one another and shared the ball more."
Lewis sophomore forward
Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) led the charge for the Flyers with a double-double of 15 points - on 7-for-8 shooting - and a career-high 14 rebounds.

Sophomore guard
Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) collected a team-best 17 points, while freshman forward
Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) notched 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting and added seven rebounds.
With the win, Lewis improves to 8-4 on the campaign and 2-2 in conference action, while Rockhurst drops to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in GLVC play.
Rockhurst junior guard Brandon McCann knocked down five three-pointers to finish with a game-high 21 points for the visiting Hawks. Sophomore center Cooper Beckett added 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 17), as the Flyers head to Lebanon, Ill., to square off with McKendree for a 7:30 PM tip-off.
