Lewis Women's Basketball Faces Drury in 2013 GLVC Opener

The Flyers four-game winning streak is on the line against the Lady Panthers in Springfield, Mo.

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team (7-1, 0-0) opens the 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference portion of their schedule on Thursday (Jan. 3) when they travel to take on Drury (6-3, 0-1) in Springfield, Mo., for a 5:45 PM scheduled tip. 

SCOUTING THE LADY PANTHERS - Coach Steve Harold is in his sixth season at the helm of the Drury women's basketball program. DU is lead by senior guard Katie Pritchard with 16. 2 ppg and senior forward Abby Bracker is pulling down 8.2 rpg. The Lady Panthers already fell to Missouri S&T 66-63 on Dec. 6 but are coming off two victories while playing in Florida.

ALL TIME SERIES - Drury holds a 7-5 lead over Lewis. 

THE LAST MATCH-UP - The two teams haven't met since Lewis knocked the Lady Panthers out of the GLVC Tournament with a 62-55 win in March 2011 in St. Louis. DU defeated the Flyers 75-72 on January 23, 2010 in Lewis' only other appearance at the O'Reilly Family Events Center.

HOME ON THE ROAD - The Flyers extended their record on the road to 4-0 when they defeated Lincoln Memorial, 74-63, on Sunday (Dec. 16). Reinhart scored 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. 

FRESHMAN ON FIRE - Forward Mariyah Henley is coming off a 24-point, nine rebound game against Upper Iowa (Dec. 19), just short of her second double-double this season. She has been a solid addition off the bench, averaging 8.9 ppg and 4.8 rpg in 14.8 minutes per game. 

NATIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis is No. 18 nationally, with a scoring average of 78.9 points per game while the team's 3-point field goal percentage (40.0) puts them seventh. 

GUARDS NATIONALLY RANKED - Senior Labrenthia Murdock is fifth with a 53.8% three-point field goal percentage while sophomore Nikki Nellen is 14th nationally, averaging 5.4 assists per game. 

BLOCKING BACKCOURT - Flyers Kristin Itschner, Murdock and Henley are tied atop the squad with seven blocks. 

FEARLESS FRESHMAN - Guard Alyssa Dengler, averaging 11.9 minutes a game, has only committed one turnover with 11 assists and been whistled for only two fouls this season. 

ALL-TIMER - Murdock is 10th in in school history with 65 total blocked shots. 

NUMBERS VS THE GLVC - The Flyers rank in the Top-3 in six different categories overall in the GLVC. 
- 2nd in points (78.9); field goal percentage (224-492, .455); assists-per-game (17.6); 3-point field goal percentage (52-133, .391)
- 3rd in blocked shots (33); offensive rebounds (344).

INDIVIDUAL FLYERS STACKING UP IN GLVC - Nellen's 5.4 assists per-game average tops the GLVC. Murdock's 48.3 3-point field goal percentage (14-for-29) puts her third. Reinhart is fourth with 15.9 points per-game average and is fifth with 8.3 rebounds-per-game. Sam Rinehart is fifth in field goal percentage among the GLVC (.547, 29-of-53).
