Lewis Women's Basketball Travels To UW-Parkside For Monday Match-up

Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team (11-3, 4-2 GLVC) close out their longest road trip of the year when they head to UW-Parkside (9-5, 3-3 GLVC) for a Monday (Jan. 21) Great Lakes Valley Conference battle at DeSimone Gymnasium. Tip is set for 5:30 PM.

LAST TIME OUT - Senior Sam Rinehart (Marion, Iowa/Marion) posted 19 points in the Flyers 74-70 loss at Bellermine. 
 
SCOUTING THE RANGERS - Jenny Knight-Kenesie is in her 11th season at the helm of the UW-Parkside program. Senior guard Jenna Endisch leads the Rangers with 14.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game averages.
 
ALL TIME SERIES - The Flyers lead 34-21.
 
LAST TIME WE MET - Last season the Rangers swept the series. Then ranked No. 24 UW-Parkside defeated Lewis at Neil Carey Arena, 83-63 (Jan. 16). By the time the squads met in Wisconsin, the Rangers had moved up to No. 16 and defeated the Flyers, 86-61, to clinch the 2011-12 GLVC East Division title.

COMMON NON-CONFERENCE FOES - The Rangers also defeated Upper Iowa 60-53 (Nov. 13) and Saginaw Valley State 70-64 (OT) (Nov. 17).
 
LEWIS RECEIVES VOTES IN DII POLL - The Flyers received three votes in the USA TODAY Sports Division II Basketball Coaches Poll released on Tuesday (Jan. 15), the first time since the 2006-07 season when the squad received votes and was ranked as high as No. 7.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis jumped into the top-10 in three categories in the NCAA national statistical rankings that were released on Friday (Jan. 18). The Flyers are No. 2 in three-point field-goal percentage (40.0%), No. 6 in three-point field-goal defense (23.8) and No. 9 in field-goal percentage (44.9%). 
 
GRAYER ON FIRE - Junior guard Alexus Grayer (Washington, Ill./Washington) has taken over No. 1 in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage (52.6%), averaging 2.3 made three-pointers per game. Grayer's numbers also lead the GLVC.
 
NELLEN NATIONALLY RANKED - Sophomore guard Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) is 17th nationally, averaging 5.2 assists per game, which also tops the conference.
 
ALL-TIMER - Senior Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) has moved up to No. 7 in school history with 81 blocks. Erin Cox (203-07) is sitting at No. 6 with 89 career blocks.
 
NUMBERS VS. THE GLVC - The Flyers top the GLVC in field-goal percentage (45.2%) and three-point field-goal percentage (39.2%) and are second in three-point field-goal defense (25.0%), scoring (75.1), three-point field-goal made (90 total, 6.4 average), assists (238, 17.0 average), and defensive rebounds (424, 30.3) in the GVLC.
 
UNDERCLASSMEN LOGGIN' ON - The Flyers are an underclassmen laden squad, as the six sophomores and freshmen are averaging over 8.8 minutes per game.
 
FEW TIMES TO THE LINE - The Flyers are 2-0 this season when they head to the line less than 10 times in a game.
 
BEST START - The Flyers have jumped out to their best start since the 1997-98 squad that went 13-1 at the same time of the season. The 1997-98 team finished 23-5 overall, 15-3 in the GLVC and made an NCAA Regional Tournament appearance.
