“A lot of our offensive frustration in the first half made us passive on defense,” Lewis head women's basketball coach
Lisa Carlsen said. “Once we focused on our defense, especially in the second half and in overtime, we were able to get rebounds and get out on offense.”
In the first half, it was Indianapolis that that won the defensive battle, building a 14-point cushion at the 4:47 mark after breaking a 12-all tie. The Greyhounds held the Flyers to 36.4% shooting from the floor and 1-of-10 from beyond the arc to head into half time up 36-27. Lewis won the rebounding battle in the period, 23-18, with nine offensive rebounds.

Alyssa Dengler (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) and Mariyah Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) each added a bucket.
Indianapolis quickly rebuilt a five-point lead but a bucket and a three-pointer by Grayer sent the game into Lewis' first overtime of season at 63-all.
In the first overtime stanza, the squads traded jump shots and three pointers to force a second extra period, tied at 68-all.
The Flyers came out to score the first five points in the second overtime to take a 73-69 lead. Grayer hit a three-pointer and Reinhart hit a jump shot for Lewis' lead. The Greyhounds got within one point after hitting a three-pointer at 74-73, with under two minutes left and briefly took the lead after making a layup.
Reinhart put the game away when she made a layup and two free throws with five seconds left in the game for the 78-75 victory. Reinhart netted her third double-double of the season, scoring 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, as well as tallying three steals, three assists and blocked a shot.
“Jess was resilient out there tonight,” Carlsen said. “She got some shots blocked but she kept crashing the boards and running the floor.
“When she's out on the floor, she's never going to quit.”
Grayer was the third Flyer that scored in double figures with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor, including connecting on 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Indianapolis had four of their starters in double figures, led by Katy McIntosh's 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
