Lewis Women's Basketball Takes Five Game Winning Streak To Missouri S&T

The Flyers are 5-0 on the road this season after defeating Drury, 78-55, Thursday.

The Flyers are off to their best start since the 1997-98 season.

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team (8-1, 1-0 GLVC) stays on road to take on Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division foe Missouri S&T (6-4, 2-0) on Saturday (Jan. 5) at 1 PM in Rolla, Mo. 

SCOUTING THE LADY MINERS - Coach Alan Eads is in his 11th season at the helm of the Missouri S&T program. The Lady Miners are led by senior forward Hailee Parks with 15.9 ppg and 8.3 rpg this season.

ALL TIME SERIES - The Flyers have an 8-2 series lead over the Lady Miners.

THE LAST MATCH-UP - The No. 12 seeded Lewis women's basketball team upset No. 5 seeded Missouri S&T at Rolla, Mo., on Feb. 26, 2012 in a GLVC Tournament First Round contest, 74-71.  Madeline Kish (Oak Forest, Ill./Sandburg) finished with a career-high 21 points.

KNOCK OUT ROUND - The Flyers have ended the Lady Miners season in the first round of the GLVC tournament the past three seasons. 
-Feb. 26, 2012, Lewis won 74-71 in Rolla, Mo.
-Feb. 26, 2011, Lewis won 79-74 (OT) in Rolla, Mo.
-Feb. 27, 2010, Lewis won 69-62 in Evansville, Ind.

HOME ON THE ROAD - The Flyers extended their record on the road to 5-0 when they defeated Drury, 78-55 (Jan 3.).

HEAD START - The Flyers have jumped out their best start since the 1997-98 squad went 13-1 before getting handed their second loss of the season to Southern Indiana (Jan. 15, 81-66). That team finished 23-5 overall, 15-3 in the GLVC and made an NCAA Regional Tournament appearance.

NATIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis is No. 18 nationally with a scoring average of 78.9 points per game while the team's 3-point field goal percentage (40.0) puts them seventh. 

GUARDS NATIONALLY RANKED - Senior Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) is fifth with a 53.8% three-point field goal percentage while sophomore Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) is 14th nationally, averaging 5.8 assists per game. 

ALL-TIMER - Murdock has moved up to No. 9 in school history with 70 blocks. She passed Chelsea Francik (2001-05) who batted away 68 shots.

MOUSE IN THE HOUSE - Guard Alyssa Dengler (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) posted a career-high points against Drury, to push her scoring average to 2.3 ppg in 12.2 minutes a game. She also has only committed two turnovers with 11 assists and been whistled for only three fouls this season. 

NUMBERS VS THE GLVC - The Flyers are second in four different categories overall in the GLVC. 
- 2nd in points (78.8); field goal percentage (252-556, .453); assists-per-game (17.6); 3-point field goal percentage (58-151, .384); and assists (160 total, 17.8 average).

INDIVIDUAL FLYERS STACKING UP IN THE GLVC - Nellen's 5.8 assists-per-game average tops the GLVC while Murdock is second in three-point field goal percentage at 48.6% (17-for-35).
