Springfield, Mo. – The Lewis University women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Drury University on Sunday (Oct. 27) at Harrison Stadium.

The Flyers fall to 8-6-2 on the season and 6-6-2 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Panthers move to 9-5-3 for the year and 7-4-3 in league play.

Drury got on the board in the 67th minute when Caitlin Redmond's high arcing shot sailed over the head of Lewis goalkeeper junior Mara Bennett (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) and into the net. Sarah Duffy picked up the assist on the play.

Drury added an insurance goal about 10 minutes later at the 76:27 mark, as Duffy fed Shelby Hatz' shot from five yards out from the box.

The Panthers held the Flyers to just seven shots with three on goal, while taking 21 of their own and 16 on frame.

"Drury set the tone of the game and came out with energy," Lewis head women's soccer coach Chris Koenig said. "We struggled to connect passes and didn't play with the level of consistency we needed to get the result."

Bennett corralled 14 Drury shots for the Flyers. DU's keeper Kelsey Vaught collected three saves.

The Flyers will close out the regular season on Wednesday (Oct. 30), when they host UW-Parkside at 5 PM at Lewis Stadium.
