Romeoville, Ill. – The Lewis University women's basketball used the 93-81 victory over NAIA-foe Roosevelt University on Wendesday (Oct. 30) to measure where the team stands with under two weeks away from the opening of the 2013-14 season.

Lisa Carlsen said. "After looking at the flim, we will see the situations that we were able to work on and improve as we battled against a very good Roosevelt team."
Sophomore forward
Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) led the Flyers with 23 points and 22 rebounds while junior guard
Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) turned in 18 points and seven assists. Redshirt sophomore guard
Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) chipped in 17 points in her return to the court after sitting out the 2012-13 season recovering from a knee injury.

Lauren Mead (Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda) had 10 points while junior forward
Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) collected 14 points and nine boards.
Lewis took a 12 point advantage into half-time, 47-35, as Nellen hit a three-pointer at the buzzer. The Lakers shot 37 percent (11-of-30) from the floor but the Flyers were able to use their speed and strength down low to make 16-of-48 shots (33 percent).
Henley posted 15 points and nine boards in the first half while Nellen chipped in 14, including three three-pointers.
In the second half, the Flyers' lead was what proved to be the difference as both teams scored 46 points in the half.
Roosevelt's offense was led by Casey Davis' 23 points, including going 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Maria Tamburrino chipped in 18 points and seven rebounds while Becky Williford added 11 points and four assists. Tori Clark had 10 points as well.
The Flyers will head to DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois for their second exhibition game on Saturday (Nov. 2) with tip-off set for 1 PM.
