Louisville, Ky. – Despite early chances to score, the Lewis University women's soccer team was unable to break through Bellarmine University's tough defense, falling 2-0 on Friday (Oct. 4) at O.B. Frazier Stadium.
The Flyers fall to 6-2-1 on the year and 4-2-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. The Knights move to 5-3-2 for the season and 4-2-1 in league play.
The squads battled to a scoreless tie in the first half with Bellarmine holding an 8-5 advantage on shots.

th minute. BU's Lauren Boyd sent the ball up to Mary Beth Gorham, who got past the Lewis defense and goalkeeper
Arianna Nie (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) to score.
Bellarmine pushed their lead to 2-0 at 66:35 when Boyd scored off a pass from Chelsea McCarty.
"We struggled to recognize that the level of play, urgency and fight we need to show up with on the road needs to be higher than at home," Lewis head women's soccer coach
Chris Koenig said. "We need to make sure we do a better job recognizing that going into our game on Sunday at McKendree."

Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) collected two saves in the first half, while Nie corralled five in the second half.
The Flyers' leading scorer sophomore
Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) took five of the squad's eight shots, with three on goal.
Bellarmine's keeper, Erin Ottman, was credited with four saves to collect the clean sheet over the Flyers.
Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 6) with a 12 PM kick-off against McKendree in Lebanon, Ill.
