Kansas City, Mo. -
Rockhurst All-American forward Mark Magee scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to help propel the No. 14 Hawks to the 2-0 victory over the No. 25 Lewis University men's soccer team in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Finals at Bourke Field on Friday (Nov. 22) night.

Rockhurst improves to 16-3-3 and advances to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals where they will meet No. 1 ranked Lindenwood at 1 PM on Sunday (Nov. 25). Lewis ends the season with a record of 13-3-5, with two of their three losses coming to Rockhurst.

Magee broke the scoreless tie at the 80:38 mark, as he gathered in a rebound off of a Paolo Scoppola shot from eight yards out to beat Lewis keeper Alec Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence ).

The England native posted his 15th goal of the season less than four minutes later, beating Pickett to the far left post from 15-yards out in the 85th minute. Oussie Gueye earned the assist on Magee's second tally.

Pickett finished the game with five saves, while his counterpart, Ryan Bass - a two-time All-American - made four stops for the Hawks.

"We played well in the first half, but we needed to play the full 90," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "(Rockhurst) outplayed us in the second half and deserves to proceed to the 'Elite Eight'."

Fiffles, however, was thrilled by his team's performance this year.

"For a young team, we had a fantastic season and I'm very proud of the boys," Fiffles said.

As a team, Rockhurst outshot the Flyers, 15-6, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
