Valparaiso, Ind. – The Lewis University women's swimming team dominated Division I Valparaiso University, 176-81, on Saturday (Nov. 9) at the ARC.
The Flyers move to 2-1 in dual meet action this season.
"This is a great win for the Flyers," Lewis head women's swimming coach
Roger Karns said. "We had many swimmers set themselves up for a breakout meet in the next few weeks."
The Flyers opened the meet with a Lewis program record-breaking time of 1:42.93 in the 200-yard medley relay swam by freshmen
Brittany Kamper (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) and
Shannon Sullivan (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community), sophomore
Montana Clasby (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) and senior
Caitlyn Scheirer (Washington, Ill./Washington Community). Their time broke the record set on December 1, 2012 by
Hannah Yancey (Orange Park, Fla./Ridgeview),
Sarah Kenis (Herndon, Va./Oakcrest),
Catie Reese (Trafalgar, Ind./Indian Creek) and
Cindy Jezuit (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North).
In their individual races, Clasby finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.11) and 200-yard Individual Medley (2:15.56) while Sullivan won the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.07) and 50-yard freestyle (24.81).
Freshman
Kara Treacy (Corpus Christi, Texas/Flour Bluff) took first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:46.39) and 500-yard freestyle (5:22.32).
Lewis returns to the pool on Saturday (Nov. 16) when they take on Lake Forest College at 1 PM in Lake Forest, Ill.
