No. 12 Lewis Women's Basketball Hosts St. Francis (Ill.) On Tuesday

Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 12 Lewis University women's basketball team hosts area rival St. Francis (Ill.) on Tuesday (Dec. 3) to kick off three straight non-conference home games to close out the 2013 calendar year.

The contest will also be broadcast on WLRA (88.1 FM) with Olivia Estrada and Scott Turek on the call.
 
IN THE POLLS - In the Nov. 26th USA Today Sports Division II Top-25 Coaches Poll released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, the Flyers, in their fourth straight poll, dropped to No. 12.
 
LAST TIME WE FACED OFF – Forward Sam Rinehart (Marion, Iowa/Marion) led five Flyers in double-figures with 15 points as Lewis defeated the Saints 90-50 at the Sullivan Center on Dec. 1, 2012. 
 
SERIES CONTROL - Lewis holds a 32-7 series advantage over St. Francis.
 
LAST TIME ON THE COURT - Lewis fell at Grand Valley State on Nov. 30, 67-59 in Allendale, Mich. Redshirt sophomore guard Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) led the Flyers with 15 points, while sophomore forward Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) collected her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
 
HOME SWEET HOME – Lewis looks to extend its 11-game home winning streak. The Flyers have won every contest at Neil Carey Arena since they opened the 2012-13 home slate with an 84-77 loss to Central Missouri (Nov. 24).
 
LEADING THE GLVC – Brawner-Henley leads the GLVC in blocked shots (2.6 bpg) and rebounds (10.8 rpg) and is second in scoring (19.2 ppg).
 
SOPHOMORE SHINING BRIGHT – Brawner-Henley is the first Flyer to average a double-double since Julie Fruendt completed the 1983-84 season averaging 18.9 points and 10.1 rebounds.
 
AMONG THE CONFERENCE - Lewis tops the GLVC in blocked shots, averaging 5.2 blocks-per-game and is third in assists, dishing out 18.8 assists-per-game.
 
SHARING THE ROCK - Guard Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) leads the conference in assists, dishing out 6.8 assists-per-game while Johnson is third in the GLVC with a 4.8 assists-per-game average.
 
ADDING TO THE PROGRAM – Lewis head women's basketball coach Lisa Carlsen announced on Nov. 18 the signing of guard Kayla Brewer (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee School of Languages) and forward Erica Correa (Davie, Fla./The Sagemont School) to National Letters of Intent to play for the Flyers in 2014-15 campaign.
 
REINHART REWARDS - Junior forward Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) picked up Preseason Honorable Mention accolades from Women's Division II Bulletin. She was named 2013 GLVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player averaging 14.0 points and 6.3 rebounds-per-game in the tournament last season.
 
PRESEASON POLL – The Flyers were selected as the preseason favorites to win the GLVC East Division title, picking up 11 first place votes in a poll of league coaches.
