Lewis Women's Basketball Heads to Saint Joseph's On Saturday

Tip-off is set for 3 PM

The Flyers take their three-game winning streak to Saint Joseph's on Saturday.

Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team (19-5, 12-4) heads on the road to Rensselaer, Ind., for their last regular season road trip to take on Saint Joseph's on Saturday (Feb. 23). Tip-off is set for a 3 PM at Richard F. Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse.

LAST TIME OUT - Sophomores Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) and Kristin Itschner (Metamora, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) and senior Sam Rinehart (Marion, Iowa/Marion) all scored in double-figures in the Flyers' 76-64 victory over Indianapolis on Thursday (Feb. 21). Reinhart led all scorers with 18 points, while Itschner scored a career-high 16 points. Rinehart chipped in 14 points.
 
ALL TIME SERIES - The Flyers hold a 36-32 lead.
 
LAST TIME WE MET - Reinhart led the Flyers with 15 points and 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season in the Flyers 67-56 victory over Saint Joseph's at Neil Carey Arena on Feb. 2. Senior Labrenthia Murdock (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) added 12 points and four steals. Rinehart chipped in 10 points.
 
SAME STARTIN' FIVE - The Flyers can boast that their starting five has remained the same throughout the season.
 
LEWIS RECEIVES VOTES USA TODAY DII POLL - The Flyers received 27 votes in the Feb. 18 edition of the USA TODAY Sports Division II Basketball Coaches Poll. Lewis jumped into the poll at No. 24, (Feb. 5), after three straight weeks of receiving votes. The last time Lewis was nationally ranked was in the 2006-07 season.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis tops the nation in three-point field goal defense, holding teams to 23.4% from beyond the arc, according the NCAA Statistical Rankings released on Friday (Feb. 22).
 
STACKING UP AGAINST THE GLVC – Sophomore guard Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) is second in the GLVC with 4.9 (118 total) assists-per-game while junior guard Alexus Grayer (Washington, Ill./Washington) is second in three-point field goal percentage 42.5% (45-for-108). Murdock is third with 31 total blocks, averaging 1.3 blocks-per-contest.
 
TURNIN' IT AROUND - As of Feb. 22, Lewis has had the best turn-around in Division II women's basketball from last season. After only winning eight games last season, the Flyers have won 19 contests.
 
ALL-TIMER - Murdock has moved into to a 6th-place in school history with 93 career blocks. Jackie Wayne (1987-91) is No. 5 all-time with 97 career blocks. Murdock also became the Flyer's 19th member of the 1,000 Point Club, going over the plateau in the double overtime victory at Indianapolis on Jan. 13. She heads into Saturday's game with 1,053 total points.
 
NUMBERS VS. THE GLVC - The Flyers top the GLVC in scoring (72.5) and three-point field-goal defense (23.4%) and are second in defensive rebounds (29.9 per-game average) and blocked shots (4.4 per-game average).
 
SOPHOMORE TOUCH - Reinhart is the first sophomore since the 2008-09 season to lead the Flyers in scoring (14.7) and rebounds (7.0). In the 2008-09 campaign, Jenny Turpel led the Flyers with 18.5 points and 6.9 rebounds-per-game.
 
THE COMEBACK - The Flyers' 77-65 victory over Bellarmine on Feb. 14 was the second time this season that the squad erased a 10-plus point deficit to win the game. The other time was in the team's 78-75 double overtime victory at Indianapolis on Jan. 31.
 
GRAYER FROM BEYOND THE ARC - Grayer has the ninth best single-season three-point field-goal percentage in Lewis history, shooting 42.5% (45-of-106). She also sits fourth all-time in program history with a 39.2% three-point field-goal percentage (85-of-217). Amy Frey (1997-99) is third with a 40.1% career three-point field-goal average (61-of-152).
 
REGIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis is third out of 10 teams in the NCAA Midwest Region rankings that were released by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 20). The next rankings will be released on Feb. 27, and March 6. The top eight teams will earn bids to the regional tournament.
 
CLINCHED POST-SEASON BERTH - With the Flyers' Thursday (Feb. 21) victory over Indianapolis, Lewis became one of 11 teams in the GLVC to clinch a post-season berth. The team has to wait and see how Saturday's league games go before they know
