Romeoville, Ill. -
The Lewis University men's basketball team looks for its third victory over a ranked opponent this season, as the Flyers (13-7, 7-5 GLVC) head to Owensboro, Ky., to square off with No. 23 Kentucky Wesleyan (15-5, 7-5) on Saturday (Feb. 9) afternoon. Tip-off is set for 3 PM at the Owensboro Sports Center.
Live stats - provided by Kentucky Wesleyan - of Saturday's game can be found at www.LewisFlyers.com. Saturday's contest can also be heard on WJOL (1340 AM) and www.LewisFlyers.com with Mark Vasko providing the play-by-play action for the Lewis Sports Network.

LAST TIME OUT - Lewis snapped a seven-game losing streak to Southern Indiana, as the visiting Flyers claimed the 63-59 win over the No. 10 Screaming Eagles on Thursday (Feb. 7) night. Flyer sophomore guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) posted a game-high 20 points.

ALL-TIME SERIES - Since Lewis entered the Division II ranks, Kentucky Wesleyan owns a 42-24 advantage over the Flyers in their all-time series.

LAST TIME WE MET - Lewis senior guard David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) scored 16 of his game-high 19 points, including three trifectas, in the second half to lift the host Flyers to the 75-71 upset victory over No. 3 Kentucky Wesleyan on January 24th.

TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK - Lewis has had seven games of less than 10 turnovers this season. That's the most by a Flyer squad since they had 10 of those contests during the 2003-04 campaign.

TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK (PART DEUX) - Lewis currently has more assists (251) than turnovers (230) - which hasn't happened since the 2009-10 campaign.

REBOUNDING ADVANTAGE - Lewis is 37-8 during head men's basketball coach Scott Trost's tenure when they out-rebound their opponents by 10 or more.

IRON MAN - Bryant has played in all 109 possible games for the Flyers in four seasons.

YOUNG GUNS - Lewis is the youngest team in the GLVC, as the Flyers have just two active upperclassmen on the roster and three total upperclassmen on the team. Quincy is next youngest squad with three active upperclassmen.

HONORING HIS BROTHER - Bryant wears the number 12 in honor of his late brother Kevin who played for Trost at Illinois Wesleyan from 2004-06.

BIG WIN - Lewis' 35-point victory over Rockhurst on January 12th is the second time the Flyers have won by 35+ points this season. The last time they accomplished that feat three times came during the 2002-03 campaign.

LESS IS MORE - Lewis is 7-3 when Jackson scores 10 or fewer points during his career.

FOR CONTINUITY SAKE - Only six players have started at least one game for Lewis this season, giving the Flyers the fewest starting line-up combinations in the GLVC.

BLOCK PARTY - Freshman forward Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) currently leads the GLVC in blocked shots (35), which ties him for eighth in Lewis history for blocks for a season.  The St. Charles, Ill., native needs four more swats to pass Austin Real (2000-01) and move into sole possession of seventh-place in school history.

DEFENSIVE CLAMPS - Lewis has held five opponents to under 50 points this season. The last time the Flyers held more than five teams to under 50 points, came during the 1985-86 campaign, when they did it six times.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN - Dating back to last season, Bryant has hit at least one three-pointer in each of his last 21 contests.

SOPHOMORE SLUMP? - Jackson is averaging a team-best 17.2 points-per-game for the Flyers. He is the first Flyer sophomore to lead the squad in scoring since Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) poured in 14.1 points-per-game in 2009-10.

DEAD EYE - Over the past seven games, Lewis is shooting an outstanding 83.5% (101-for-121) from the free throw line. Prior to that, Lewis made just 67.3% (177-for-263) of their charity tosses.

THE LAST TIME...- Lewis has not defeated three nationally ranked teams in a single-season since the 2003-04 campaign. That year, the Flyers defeated Southern Indiana twice when they were ranked both No. 13 and No. 1 in the nation and Indianapolis when they were No. 7 in Division II.
