LAST TIME OUT - Lewis senior guard
David Bryant (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) celebrated 'Senior Night' in fine fashion, as he tied a career-high with five three-pointers, four of which came in the second half, and finished with 23 points in the Flyers' 68-61 upset victory over No. 13 UW-Parkside on Thursday (Feb. 28) night.
ALL TIME SERIES - Since Lewis entered the Division II ranks, the Flyers hold a 43-38 advantage over Quincy in their all-time series.
LAST TIME WE MET - Lewis used a 27-11 run, led by nine points from senior center
Marty Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg), over the final 8:52 to earn the 75-59 win over Quincy at Neil Carey Arena on January 12, 2012.
LAST TIME WE MET (IN THE TOURNAMENT) - Top-seeded Lewis claimed the 72-64 win over Quincy in the GLVC quarterfinals on March 5, 2004.
TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK - Lewis has had nine games of less than 10 turnovers this season. That's the most by a Flyer squad since they had 10 of those contests during the 2003-04 campaign.
TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK (PART DEUX) - Lewis currently has more assists (307) than turnovers (302) - which hasn't happened since the 2009-10 campaign.
REBOUNDING ADVANTAGE - Lewis is 40-8 (.833) during head men's basketball coach
Scott Trost's tenure when they out-rebound their opponents by 10 or more.
IRON MAN - Bryant has played in all 115 possible games for the Flyers in four seasons.
FROM WAY DOWNTOWN - Dating back to last season, Bryant has hit at least one three-pointer in each of his last 27 contests.
THE LAST TIME...- Including Thursday's win over No. 13 UW-Parkside, Lewis has now defeated four nationally-ranked teams this season. The last time the Flyers beat four ranked teams was during the 1981-82 campaign.
CLOSE CALLS - Lewis is 4-4 in games decided by five points or less this season.
WINNING WAYS - A win over Quincy would give the Flyers 19 victories, which would be the most since they went 20-11 in 2007-08.
YOUNG GUNS - Lewis is the youngest team in the GLVC, as the Flyers have just two active upperclassmen on the roster and three total upperclassmen on the team. Quincy is next youngest squad with three active upperclassmen.
HONORING HIS BROTHER - Bryant wears the number 12 in honor of his late brother Kevin who played for Trost at Illinois Wesleyan from 2004-06.
BIG WIN - Lewis' 35-point victory over Rockhurst on January 12, 2013 is the second time the Flyers have won by 35+ points this season. The last time they accomplished that feat three times came during the 2002-03 campaign.
LESS IS MORE - Lewis is 8-3 when sophomore guard
Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) scores fewer than 10 points during his career.
FOR CONTINUITY SAKE - Only six players have started at least one game for Lewis this season, giving the Flyers the fewest starting line-up combinations in the GLVC.
BLOCK PARTY - Freshman forward
Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) currently is tied for the GLVC lead in blocked shots (40), which puts him seventh in Lewis history for blocks for a season. The St. Charles, Ill., native needs seven more swats to pass Austin Real (2001-02) and move into sole possession of sixth-place in school history.
DEFENSIVE CLAMPS - Lewis has held five opponents to under 50 points this season. The last time the Flyers held more than five teams to under 50 points, came during the 1985-86 campaign, when they did it six times.
DEAD EYE - Over the past 13 contests, Lewis is shooting 84.3% (220-for-261) from the free throw line. Prior to that game, Lewis made just 67.3% (177-for-263) of its charity tosses. As a team, Lewis is currently shooting 75.8% (397-for-524), which is good for 14th in the country (as of Feb. 28).
CHARITY STRIPE - Lewis' 41-for-45 performance at the free throw line against Saint Joseph's was the most makes by a Flyer squad since they dropped a school-record 45 charity tosses against SIU-Edwardsville on January 4, 1997.
REGIONALLY-RANKED - Lewis is ranked No. 8 in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings, announced on Wednesday (Feb. 27).
HOME SWEET HOME - A win against Quincy on Sunday would give the Flyers 12 wins at Neil Carey Arena. That would be the most home victories by a Lewis squad since the 2003-04 edition of the Flyers picked up 14.
