Lockport, Ill. -
Lewis University's junior tandem of Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) each earned two victories over No. 38 Grand Valley State on Sunday (March 17) night, but it was not enough, as the visiting Lakers claimed the 6-3 regional win over the No. 37 Flyers at Challenge Fitness.

"Our lack of experience and match toughness really stood out in this match," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "The effort was there, but the execution and decision-making need to get much better."

With the win, Grand Valley State improves to 21-4 while the Flyers are now 3-3 on the campaign.

Lanstiak and Kranczicki teamed up at No. 1 doubles for the 8-2 win over Katelyn Schaffer and Lexi Rice. Lanstiak added a 6-1, 6-1 win over Niki Shipman at No. 1 singles, while Kranczicki battled an ankle injury en route to the 6-7 (3), 6-1, 10-4 come-from-behind win over Leah Dancz at No. 2 singles.

"Zso (Lanstiak) continues to lead us and play very well at the top spot," Bridel said.

Bridel cited Kranczicki's courageous performance due to her injury.

"I was proud of Zsofi's perseverance and toughness (because of her ankle injury) and finding a way to win her singles and doubles matches," Bridel said.

Lewis returns to action on March 26th, as they head to Bourbonnais, Ill., to meet Olivet Nazarene for a 3:30 PM first serve.
