Springfield, Mo. -
The 2013 season has come to an end for the No. 41 Lewis University women's tennis team, as the Flyers dropped a 5-3 decision to No. 29 Drury in a NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament second round contest at the Cooper Tennis Complex on Monday (Apr 29) afternoon.

With the win, Drury improves to 18-3 overall and advances to the 'Sweet 16'. Lewis ends the season with a mark of 15-4.

Lewis juniors Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) were responsible for all three Flyer wins on Monday. Lanstiak and Kranczicki teamed up at No. 1 doubles for the 8-2 win over Drury's Beatriz Juan and Stefanie Monsch. Lanstiak also handed Juan a 7-5, 6-3 loss at No. 1 singles, while Kranczicki upset No. 19 Natalia Kozel, 6-1, 6-2.

"We played poorly in doubles and got behind," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "We, however, responded very well in singles and collectively had one of our better performances this season.

"I am proud of the way our team competed this season and we will use those experiences to be better next year."
