No. 40 Southern Indiana Upsets No. 36 Lewis Men's Tennis, 6-3

Screaming Eagles snap Flyers' four-match winning streak.

The four-match winning streak by the No. 36 Lewis men's tennis team came to an end on Saturday (Apr. 6) as No. 40 Southern Indiana claimed the 6-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference upset victory over the host Flyers at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.

With the win, Southern Indiana improves to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in GLVC action, while the host Flyers are now 6-4 on the campaign and 2-1 in conference play.

Lewis sophomore Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) led the way for the Flyers with two wins. Levandi paired up with sophomore Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) at No. 1 doubles for the 8-6 win over Michael Kuzaj and Juan Quiroz. Levandi also dropped Kuzaj, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.

Lewis junior Florian Etienne (Paris, France/Jean de la Fontaine) (Paris, France/Jean de la Fontaine/Shorter) earned the final victory for the Flyers with the 6-4, 6-4 win over Santiago Lopez at No. 3 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (Apr. 12) as they head to Lebanon, Ill., to meet McKendree for a 12 PM first serve.
