No. 41 Lewis Women's Tennis Rolls Past Southern Indiana, 7-2

Flyers extend winning streak to six matches.

The No. 41 Lewis University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches with the 7-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Southern Indiana at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex on Saturday (Apr. 6) afternoon.

With the win, Lewis improves to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in GLVC action, while the visting Screaming Eagles are now 7-8 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.

Lewis set the tone early as the Flyers swept all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Lewis' Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) earned the 8-3 win over Lindsey White and Elizabeth Wilm. Lanstiak also rolled past Wilm, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, while Kranczicki dropped White, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.

At No. 2 doubles, Lewis' Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) and Brianna Markgraf (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) claimed the 8-1 win over Ellena Stumpf and Morgan Coquerille. Markgraff added a 6-4, 6-2 win over Alyssa Hoover at No. 5 singles.

Flyer freshman Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) and junior Kendra Mills (Elmhurst, Ill./York) (Elmhurst, Ill./York) defeated Shannon Joyce and Logan Ackerman, 9-7 at No. 3 doubles. Wetmore also bested Stumpf, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 4 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (Apr. 12) as the Flyers head to Lebanon, Ill., to square off with McKendree. First serve is set for 12 PM.
