Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University freshman midfielder
Ivan Surlina (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) scored the golden goal with 3:20 left in overtime to propel the No. 12 Flyer men's soccer team to the 1-0 (OT) Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Missouri-St. Louis at Lewis Stadium on Sunday (Sept .29) afternoon.
Surlina took a feed from sophomore defender
Isaac Sutton (Carol Stream, Ill./St. Joseph) and drove it to the right side of the 10-yard line. The Lombard, Ill., native pulled up and chipped a shot over the outstretched arms of UMSL goalkeeper Jeremiah Cooper into the upper left corner of the net for the Flyer victory.
With the win, Lewis (6-0-2, 5-0-1 GLVC) extends its unbeaten streak to eight matches, which is the Flyers' longest such streak since 2004. UMSL falls to 3-5 on the campaign and 2-4 in GLVC action.

Alec Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence ) notched two saves in goal to record his fourth solo shutout of the season. The Mokena, Ill.., native has not given up a goal in his last 366:44 minutes played. Cooper made five saves in goal for the Tritons.
Lewis' offense struggled at times on Sunday, as they managed a total of 10 shots in regulation and three shots on goal. The Flyers, however, regrouped in the extra session, and notched four shots, and three on goal - including Surlina's game-winner.

For the game, Lewis totaled 14 shots to UMSL's eight, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal .
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Oct .4), as the Flyers head to Kentucky to square off with Bellarmine. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 PM (ET).
