ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis women's volleyball won their 20th match of the season on Saturday (Nov. 1) thanks to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-21) victory of Drury in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Neil Carey Arena.

Lewis cruised to a set one victory by taking a lead as large as 19-7. The second set was the closest. While the Flyers again grabbed a lead, this time 11-5, the Panthers rallied back. Drury tied the score at 20 before Lewis closed the set on a 5-3 stretch. Junior Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) had a kill for point 25. Drury fell behind again in the third, only to get within one point at 19-18. Lewis followed with kills by Davito and freshman Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) to force a Drury timeout and all but end the match.

Schneider hit .529 with 10 kills. Davito also added 10 kills.

Senior Amy Choi (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) finished with 17 digs. She was honored before the match for recording her 2,000th career dig on Wednesday at UW-Parkside. Choi now has 2,023 digs in a Lewis uniform, most all-time for a Flyer.

Choi was one of four Flyers with double-digit digs. Senior Leigh Barea (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) had 14, junior Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) notched 11 and senior Kim Vertin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central) had 10. Barea and Davito each had two aces as Lewis recorded six for the match.

"I think early in the week we were a little flat," Lewis head coach Lorelee Smith said. "(But) you could see the passion, you could see the happiness on everyone's face (tonight). It was a good win."

The win gives Lewis a 20-win season for the ninth consecutive year.

The Flyers are 20-5 (12-3 GLVC). Drury is now 14-10 (5-10 GLVC). Lewis hosts Missouri S&T on Sunday (Nov. 2) at 1 p.m.
