Big Rapids, Mich. -
In a game that featured 22 lead changes, it was the Ferris State men's basketball team that had the last laugh, as the host Bulldogs - led by five players scoring in double-figures - held on for the 70-67 regional win over No. 17 Lewis University at Jim Wink Arena on Saturday (Nov. 22) afternoon.

Ferris State's James Chappell and Drew Lehman (4 three-pointers) each scored 17 points for the Bulldogs, while Josh Fleming and Jibreel Jackson both added 10 points in the win. FSU's Jared Stolicker posted 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting.

With the victory, Ferris State improves to 1-2 overall and the Flyers fall to 3-1 on the campaign.

Lewis senior guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) topped the Flyers with a game-high 18 points, while senior forward David Niggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) earned his first career double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds).

Ferris State held a 69-67 lead over the Flyers with 13 seconds left, as Lehman split a pair of free throws. On the ensuing possession, Lewis point guard Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) drove to the basket for the potential game-tying basket with three seconds left, but was unable to convert. Chappell grabbed the rebound and was immediately fouled.

Chappell split his charity tosses, giving the Bulldogs a 70-67 lead with one second left in the contest. Jackson took the inbounds pass, but his desperation game-tying three-pointer went array, securing the win for Ferris State.

Lewis shot 50% for the fourth-straight game, as they converted 51.9% (27-for-52) of their field goal attempts. The Flyers, however, were done in by their free throw shooting, knocking down just 47.4% of their free throw attempts. They also committed 17 turnovers, which led to 15 Bulldog points.

"We just didn't play well enough today to win," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "Going 9-for-19 from the free throw line doesn't help, but Ferris is a good team and you have to give them credit. It's hard to win on the road."

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 29), as they head to Detroit, Mich., for a 3 PM ET showdown with Wayne State.
