Box Score (PDF)

DETROIT – Lewis men's basketball led wire-to-wire in a 76-59 victory at Wayne State (Mich.) on Saturday (Nov. 29) afternoon. The Flyers jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back in the non-conference contest at the Matthaei Center on WSU's campus.

The Flyers (4-1) held a 39-26 halftime lead over Wayne State (0-3) after limiting the Warriors to 30.0 percent (9-of-30) shooting in the opening 20 minutes. Freshman Max Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) scored all 13 of his points in the first half.

Lewis' lead only once dipped below double-digits in the second half. Senior David Niggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) chipped in a career-high 16 points thanks to a 4-of-6 performance beyond the arc. Seniors Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) and Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) each scored 11 points. 10 different Flyers recorded a basket in the contest. Jackson tied a career high with six assists.

"I thought it was a pretty good all around game for us," Lewis men's basketball head coach Scott Trost said. "We defended well and took care of the ball. Got a good performance from our big guns. Ryan played a nice floor game to help us get a good road win."

The Flyers committed only six turnovers, their fewest of the young season. Lewis shot 44.8 percent (26-of-58) while limiting the Warriors to 34.5 percent (19-of-55) shooting. Lewis opponents have cracked 40 percent shooting only once this season. The Lewis bench scored 32 points.

Lewis hosts Olivet Nazarene on Wednesday (Dec. 3) at Neil Carey Arena. The game will tip at 7:30 p.m. and be aired live on WJOL 1340 AM
