WINTER PARK, Fla. – No. 4 Lewis women's hoops stayed undefeated on the young season with a 76-65 victory at No. 14 Rollins. The contest was the championship game of the Rollins Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Flyers took control early with a 12-0 run from 13:04 on the clock to 9:11 left in the first half. It put the Flyers up by 17 points, 30-13. Four different Flyers scored in the run with junior Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) scoring five of the 12 points.

Lewis took a lead as large as 20 points in the second thanks to a jumper by junior Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) with 15:09 remaining. The Tars didn't make a run until later in the game, advancing within six at 69-63 with only 1:38 left on the clock. Rollins' Sarah Taylor could have made it a one-possession game 34 seconds later but her 3-pointer was off the mark. Johnson grabbed the rebound and was fouled. She made both of her free throws to help put the game away. Lewis made 7-of-8 from the charity stripe over the game's final 1:01.

"We knew they'd make a run, Rollins is a good team," Lewis head coach Lisa Carlsen said. "We did a good job of staying composed down the stretch to hit free throws to seal the win."

It was a defensive effort for the Flyers that made the difference. Rollins shot only 27.2 percent (22-of-81) in the contest and made only 6-of-33 attempts from beyond the arc.

Johnson led the Flyers with a game-high 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Brawner-Henley posted a double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds. Both were named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts in the last two games. Johnson was named Tournament MVP.

The Flyers picked up 19 assists on 25 field goals. Senior Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) totaled seven of the assists while adding 11 points.

"We were much better defensively today," Carlsen said. "Jamie had an outstanding tournament."

Lewis is now 5-0 on the season while Rollins is 5-1. The Flyers host conference-foe UW-Parkside on Thursday (Dec. 4) at 5:30 p.m. at Neil Carey Arena.
