PDF Box ScoreROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis women's volleyball swept Illinois Springfield 25-19, 25-11, 25-14 on Friday (Nov. 7) evening at Neil Carey Arena. It was Senior Night for the Flyers as Lewis honored six seniors following the match.
The Flyers out-hit the Prairie Stars .422 to .162. While it was Senior Night, it was a junior and a freshman leading Lewis offensively. Junior
Morgan Cebula (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point Area) hit .619 with 14 kills and just one error. She also added six blocks (one solo). Freshman
Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) hit .667 with 12 kills and no errors.
Lewis controlled the match for the most part from start to finish as the contest featured only three lead changes.
Senior
Amy Choi (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) recorded 14 digs. She helped Lewis out-dig UIS 47-34. Senior
Ally Maurer (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty) recorded three digs, two kills and two blocks. Senior
Kim Vertin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central) had 22 kills and nine digs. Senior
Leigh Barea (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) recorded 31 assists. Senior
Jenni Mueller (Mount Prospect, Ill./John Hersey) had four digs and an ace. Senior
Katie Fuerst (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) finished with five kills, three digs and two block assists.
The Flyers improve to 21-6 (13-4 GLVC) with the win. UIS falls to 10-17 (2-15 GLVC). Lewis hosts McKendree on Saturday at 3 p.m. It will be Lewis' final regular season match of the year.
