Rolla, Mo. -
The No. 19 Lewis University men's basketball team earned its ninth road victory of the season - the most by a Flyer team since the 1985-86 edition had 10 - as they cruised to the 75-60 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over Missouri S&T at Billy Key Court on Thursday (Feb. 13) night.

The Lewis bench played a key role in the win for the Flyers, as junior forward David Niggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and freshman guard Capel Henshaw (Harrisburg, Ill./Harrisburg) each scored 13 points. Niggins knocked down three trifectas and tied a career-high with a team-best nine rebounds, while Henshaw drilled two three-pointers and finished with a season-high six rebounds. As a team, Lewis' bench outscored the Miner reserves, 32-9.

Lewis junior guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) collected a team-best 14 points, including three trifectas, while sophompre center Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) pitched in 10 points, five rebounds, four blocks and three assists.

"It was a good win on the road," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "Capel (Henshaw) and (David) Niggins again gave us a spark off the bench."

With the win, Lewis improves to 19-3 overall and 11-3 in conference action, while the host Miners fall to 9-13 on the campaign and 4-10 in GLVC play.

Missouri S&T redshirt senior Bryce Foster led all scorers with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Miner freshman guard Aaron Emmanuel added 17 points in the loss.

Lewis led for a majority of the contest, but blew the doors wide open with a 22-2 run in the first half that gave them a 40-20 lead. During that four-minute stretch, Lewis knocked down seven of eight field goals, including all three of their three-point attempts. Henshaw led the charge for the Flyers during the run, with eight points, including both of his three-pointers. The Miners did not help their own cause during that stretch, as they were held without a field goal for over six minutes in the opening half.

For the game, Lewis shot 51.0% (26-for-51) from the field and 50.0% (8-for-16) fron three-point range. Missouri S&T did not fare as well, as they converted just 30.5% (18-for-59) of their field goal attempts and 28.6% (6-for-21) from long distance.

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 15), as they head to Springfield, Mo., to take on defending National Champion and No. 2 ranked Drury. Tip-off is set for 3 PM.
