Top Of Line-Up Keys Lewis Women's Tennis To 6-3 Victory Over UMSL

Four different Flyers win two matches against Tritons; Lanstiak wins 100th career singles match.

Four different players won two matches for the Lewis University women's tennis team, as the visiting Flyers claimed the 6-3 non-conference victory over Missouri-St. Louis at the UMSL Tennis Courts on Friday (March 14) afternoon.

With the win, Lewis improves to 5-3 overall, while the host Tritons fall to 5-2 on the campaign.

At No. 1 doubles, Lewis' senior duo of Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) picked up the 8-2 win over Louisa Werner and Renee Verboven. Lanstiak also dropped Verboven at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, for her 100th career singles victory. Kranczicki earned the 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Lina Parra at No. 2 singles.

Lewis' No. 2 doubles team of freshman Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) and sophomore Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) defeated UMSL's Nina Bellanger and Chandler Duchaine, 8-1. Banic also bested Werner, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 3 singles, while Nguyen rallied for the 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 win over Natalia Carvalhais at No. 4 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (March 15), as the Flyers meet Northwest Missouri State for a 3 PM first serve at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
