Romeoville, Ill. - Despite a pair of victories from juniors
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi), the Lewis University men's tennis team was unable to overtake No. 24 Southern Indiana, as the visiting Screaming Eagles picked up the 6-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over the host Flyers at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex on Saturday (March 29) afternoon.
"The effort is there, but we continue to let the break changes slip away during our return games and not taking care of our serve games," Lewis head men's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said.
With the win, Southern Indiana improves to 12-6 overall and 2-1 in conference action, while the Flyers are now 3-9 on the season and 1-2 in GLVC play.
At No. 1 doubles, Levandi and Aunapuu paired up for the 8-4 win over Joe Bray and Jack Joyce. Levandi later handed Santiago Lopez a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at No. 1 singles, while Aunapuu bested Bray, 6-2, 7-6 (6).
Lewis is back in action on Friday (April 4), as they head to Springfield for a 2 PM showdown with UIS.
