The No. 47 Lewis University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches with the 9-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference whitewash of Southern Indiana at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex on Saturday (March 29) afternoon.

"The ladies did a great job in windy, cold conditions," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "We played well in doubles from the start and once again followed it up with solid singles play."

With the win, Lewis improves to 9-3 on the campaign and 3-0 in GLVC action, while the visiting Screaming Eagles drop to 5-11 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Lewis' No. 1 doubles team of seniors Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) opened up with an 8-1 victory over USI's Morgan Coquerille and Elizabeth Wilm. Lanstiak dropped Coquerille, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Kranczicki beat Wilm, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.

At No. 2 doubles, Lewis' tandem of freshman Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) and sophomore Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) earned the 8-2 triumph over Shannon Joyce and Brenna Wu. Banic added a 6-7, 6-0, 10-3 win over Wu at No. 3 singles, as Nguyen picked up the 6-0, 6-1 victory over Elizabeth Skinner at No. 4 singles.

The Flyers completed the sweep of doubles at No. 3, as Lewis' duo of Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) and Kendra Mills (Elmhurst, Ill./York) claimed the 8-5 victory over Miranda Camp and Skinner. Wetmore also collected a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kymberly Brannon at No. 5 singles, while Mills was victorious over Alyssa Hoover, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (April 4), as the Flyers head to Springfield, Ill., for a 2 PM showdown with UIS.
