KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lewis women's soccer dropped a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at No. 20 Rockhurst on Sunday (Sept. 21) afternoon 4-0.

The Hawks opened the scoring just before the 10-minute mark on a goal by Taylor Skala. Mia Zanaboni assisted on the goal. Rockhurst made it 2-0 at the break following a goal by Brandi Van Booven from 17-yards out inside the right post. The goal at 31:54 was assisted by Molly Beelman.

It stayed 2-0 for the majority of the second half until Rockhurst scored two goals in the final 15 minutes. First it was Skala again with a goal assisted by Nicole Keeve at 75:05. With a touch over four minutes remaining in the game Emily Rodriguez found the back of the net to round out the scoring. Kasey Lierz and Courtney Sliberberg assisted on the goal.

The Flyers held a significant edge in corner kicks 9-3, but were outshot by the Hawks 18-4.

Lewis falls to 1-4-1 (1-3-0 GLVC). Rockhurst improves to 6-1-0 (3-1-1 GLVC).

"We are not playing clean enough," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "Our work rate is there but we are not consistent enough with our possession or defending right now. We need to do the little things better. We will regroup and prepare for next weekend."

The Flyers travel to UIS and Southern Indiana next weekend. First up is a Friday (Sept. 26) contest with the Prairie Stars of UIS.
