EVANSVILLE, Ill. - Lewis women's soccer recorded their second consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference tie on Sunday (Sept. 28) with a 0-0 (2 OT) draw at Southern Indiana.

"I think especially coming off the game Friday where we fell behind, I think the team adjusted well today to get the clean sheet," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "It is something to build on going forward."Â
Both teams had opportunities in overtime with senior goaltender Mara Bennett (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) making three saves for the Flyers in the extra 20 minutes. Lewis earned several chances with one of the best being a shot by junior Maggie Moran (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) that went high as she moved toward her left in the box. Bennett finished with eight saves for the Flyers. Â
Moran totaled a match-high six shots for Lewis. Junior Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) added three shots. Â
"It comes down to a game of chances and we didn't capitalize," Koenig said. "But I'm happy the way the group defended. If we can defend like that I'm confident most days our attacking players can find the back of the net."

Southern Indiana is now 1-5-2 (0-4-2 GLVC). The Flyers move to 1-4-3 (1-3-2 GLVC). Lewis returns home on Friday after four straight games away from Romeoville. Friday's contest will start at 7:30 p.m. against McKendree.
