ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – One goal was the difference in Lewis women's soccer's 1-0 loss to McKendree on Friday (Oct. 3) evening in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Lewis Stadium.

Lewis senior goaltender Mara Bennett (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) made seven saves for the Flyers on a cold and windy evening.
 
McKendree out-shot the Flyers 11-7.
 
The only goal of the game came at the 33:46 mark in the first half. Alyssa Patterson drove toward the goal from the right side. Bennett was forced to come out and challenge Patterson and as she did, Patterson poked it by Bennett.
 
Junior Jessica Chavez (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) finished with five total shots and two on goal for Lewis.
 
"We just didn't do a good enough job building an attack," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "Scoring chances were few and far between for us tonight."
 
McKendree improves to 5-5-0 (4-3-0 GLVC). Lewis falls to 1-5-3 (1-4-2 GLVC) with the loss. Lewis continues GLVC play on Sunday (Oct. 5) when Bellarmine visits Lewis Stadium in a 2:30 p.m. kick.
