Lewis recorded 10 aces in the match. It is the second time this season Lewis has notched 10 aces in a contest. The Flyers also did so on Sept. 12 against Malone. That match was also a three-set contest.
Sophomore
Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) led the ace barrage with four. She had back-to-back aces in the second set to put the Flyers up 21-16. It was part of a 5-0 run for the Flyers that saw Lewis take control of a set, which featured 10 ties and three lead changes.
Davito added two aces and a team-high nine kills on a .474 attack percentage with no errors. Seliga totaled a team-high 12 digs with eight kills. Freshman
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) had nine digs and eight kills.
Lewis out-hit the Knights .195 to .165. The Flyers out-blocked the Knights 7-2.
Sophomore
Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) had three aces while not recording a single reception error.
"Nicole was pretty aggressive and right now she is our best passer," Lewis head coach
Lorelee Smith said. "When she gets more than half our balls our offense is able to run a little bit smoother and that's a very good thing for our serve receive."
The Flyers improve to 18-1 (9-0 GLVC). Bellarmine falls to 7-12 (2-7 GLVC). Lewis is back in action on Oct. 16 at the Midwest Region Crossover played at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Illinois. Matchups for the annual event featuring the best teams in the Midwest Region will be announced this weekend.
