PDF BoxROMEOVILLE, Ill. – No. 14 Bellarmine scored with 47 seconds remaining in the game to defeat Lewis women's soccer 1-0 on Sunday (Oct. 11) afternoon at Lewis Stadium.
The Knights and Flyers went to half scoreless. It stayed that way early in the second half thanks to impressive saves by sophomore goalkeeper

Bellarmine broke through in the 90
th minute. Erika Laws hit the crossbar for the Knights. It bounced toward Mary Beth Gorham who headed the ball in the net for the only goal of the game. It was Gorhman's 10
th goal of the season. Laws earned an assist on the play.
Meyer made six saves for the Flyers. Sophomore
Mackenzie Fuller (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) led Lewis with two shots.
"We have to let this process a little bit," Lewis head coach
Chris Koenig said. "Early in the game we had some chances we didn't capitalize on and then they got that opportunity in the end. It is hard to swallow but I think right now our focus is on this next week."
The Knights stay undefeated at 12-0-1 (9-0-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference). Lewis falls to 7-4-2 (5-3-2 GLVC). The Flyers hit the road next weekend for a pair of GLVC games. First up is a contest at Missouri S&T on Friday (Oct. 16). Kick in Rolla, Mo. is set for 5 p.m.
