ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis women's soccer closed the 2015 regular season with a 3-0 victory over UW-Parkside on Wednesday (Oct. 28) evening at a rainy Lewis Stadium.

The win is Lewis' first over UW-Parkside since 2007.

The Flyers have earned the No. 6 seed in the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Lewis will play at No. 3 seed Quincy on Sunday (Nov. 1) at a time to be determined.

The Flyers got on the board in the eighth minute. On a throw-in, freshman Kianna Clark (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South) delivered the ball all the way to 10 yards in front of the right post. Senior Maggie Moran (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows), with her back to the goal, tapped the ball to senior Greccia Miranda (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) who wasted no time drilling the ball into the top of the goal. It was Miranda's second goal of the season.

Lewis extended that lead in the 17th minute. Sophomore Mackenzie Fuller (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) took a corner kick and didn't deliver the ball directly in front of the net. Instead she kicked the ball toward the closest corner of the box. Senior Lauren Grady (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) came running in and in one motion struck the ball into the right side of the net. The tally was Grady's fourth goal of the season.

Freshman Lena Trentl (Pforzheim, Germany/Johanna Wittum Schule) scored her second goal in as many games when she knocked in a deflected pass in the 57th minute. It put Lewis up 3-0.

"With the wind and the rain it wasn't a lot of fun to be out there but it was a lot of fun to be part of that game," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "Getting to a 10-win regular season was something this group wanted to achieve. They did a great job."

The win moves Lewis to 10-6-2 (8-5-2 GLVC). UW-Parkside falls to 6-8-3 (5-7-3 GLVC).
