Midland, Mich. - Lewis University sophomore forward
Max Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) turned in a performance for the ages, as he collected a school-record 52 points, drained 12 three-pointers and grabbed 12 rebounds for good measure as the Flyer men's basketball team earned the 99-95 regional victory over Northwood at the Bennett Center on Tuesday (Nov. 24) evening.
Strus was 14-for-18 from the field, including an unbelievable 12-for-14 from beyond the three-point range. He broke the previous school-record of 46 points set by John Lucas during the 1969-70 campaign. It ties the Great Lakes Valley Conference record for points scored previously set by both LaVontay Fenderson (UW-Parkside, 2009) and Gary Paul (Indianapolis, 1988).
The Hickory Hills, Ill., native also broke the previous Bennett Center scoring record of 45. It is the most points scored by any player at any level of the NCAA this season and the most three-pointers by anyone in the NCAA this season.

Scott Trost said.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 4-1 on the season, while the host Timberwolves fall to 3-2 on the campaign.
Not to be forgotten was junior
Miles Simelton (Oswego, Ill./Oswego). Simelton recorded a double-double with a season-high 17 points and 11 assists. It was the most assists by a Flyer player since Matthew Marino twice dished out 11 helpers against Kentucky Wesleyan during the 2006-07 campaign.
"I thought Miles gave us a really strong all-around performance," Trost said.
As a team, Lewis shot 70.8% from three-point range, knocking down 17-of-24 from long range. That is the most trifectas in the Trost era with the previous high of 13, set four times. The Flyers shot 59.6% (31-for-52) from the floor, including a 67.9% (19-for-28) outing in the first half.
Northwood senior guard Maurice Jones topped the Timberwolves with a double-double of 31 points and 10 assists. Sophomore forweard Charlie Ryan chipped in 17 points, while sophomore guard Brad Schaub and senior guard Jermaine Myers scored 15 points apiece.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 28), as the Flyers host Wayne State for a 3 PM regional showdown at Neil Carey Arena.
