QUINCY, Ill. – Junior Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) recorded 29 digs as No. 18 Lewis Women's Volleyball made quick work of Quincy 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 on Friday (Nov. 6) evening at Pepsi Arena in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.

Yuede was one of three Flyers with double-digit digs. Freshman Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) added 13 digs.

Lewis' 68 digs as a team stand as the most for the Flyers in a three-set match this season.

Offensively, the Flyers out-hit the Hawks .252 to .096. Sophomore Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) and senior Kelly Brennan (Burr Ridge, Ill./Fenwick) joined Hyland to form a trio of Flyers with 10 kills each. Senior Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) finished one short, adding nine kills, but she made a major impact from the service line with four aces.

Lewis recorded 47 assists on 49 kills. Freshman McKenna Pierson (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) had 25 assists. Redshirt freshman Abby Becker (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Monomonee Falls) added 21 assists.

"We played well," Lewis head coach Lorelee Smith said. "This is our longest road trip of the season so I was happy to see us execute right from the start."

The lead changed hands only six times in the match. Four of those came in the first set where the Hawks led as late as 14-13. However Lewis scored the next four points, with Davito recording a kill and two aces in the run, to take control of the set.

"This was a great team win," Smith said. "Everyone showed up to play and focused on being in control. I'm proud of their effort."

Quincy falls to 12-15 (6-8 GLVC). Lewis improves to 24-3 (12-2 GLVC). The Flyers are back in action on Saturday at Truman State in a 6 p.m. match.
