KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - No. 18 Lewis women's volleyball dropped a road Great Lake Valley Conference match to Truman State on Saturday (Nov. 7) evening 3-2 (15-25, 28-26, 25-22, 16-25, 15-10).

Junior Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) recorded 42 digs. It is a new rally scoring era record for the Flyers. Her mark tops Amy Choi (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) who twice recorded 38 digs in a match in 2012.

Lewis' 127 digs are the most in a match since Lewis recorded 132 against Indianapolis on Nov. 16, 2007 in the NCAA Tournament. Worth noting, in 2007 matches were played to 30 points in a set, not 25.

The Flyers' best chance to take control of the match came in the second set. After Lewis dominated the opening frame, Lewis took a 23-19 lead in the second set. Truman scored the next five points, three by kills and two by aces. Lewis tied the score at 24 thanks to a kill by sophomore Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn). It was the first of three set points the Flyers denied, but on the fourth Truman State won the set 28-26.

Truman led the majority of the third set. Lewis rallied to within one at 20-19, but never tied it.

The fourth set was all Lewis, winning by nine points.

In the fifth, Lewis' final lead came at 6-5. A 7-2 Truman State run, which started with the set tied at seven, was the difference. Lewis' attempt to string points together was hampered by three service errors in the fifth set. Truman State didn't have a single service error in the fifth set.

Lewis held a 71-39 advantage in kills thanks to a pair of lopsided wins for Lewis in sets one and four. Lewis also committed 34 attack errors to help in the Bulldogs' point total.

"It was another match with too many errors," Lewis head coach Lorelee Smith said. "We haven't figured out how to control our side of the net and fully support one another."

Schneider led Lewis with 15 kills. Senior Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) and sophomore Maddie Seliga (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall) each had 14 kills. Freshman Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) added 11 kills and 20 digs.

Truman State improves to 15-12 (8-7 GLVC). Lewis falls to 24-4 (12-3 GLVC). The Flyers close out the home portion of their schedule on Tuesday when UW-Parkside comes to town for a GLVC match. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The first 50 students will receive a t-shirt and free pizza from Fat Ricky's.
