Brawner-Henley also scored her 1,500th career point in the contest, bringing her career total to 1,502.
Freshman
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) had the best game of her young career, recording 26 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double. Kelliher did much of her damage on second chance points, grabbing five offensive boards and often going right back up with a shot following a rebound. Kelliher continues to impress at the free throw line, shooting 10-of-11 on Saturday at the stripe.
"Jess was sensational," Lewis head coach Kristen Gillespie said. "We attacked their zone very well."UIndy's only lead of the game came at 2-0. Lewis then scored the next nine points. The Greyhounds' most serious threat to make a game of it came in the third quarter when they advanced within four points. However Lewis closed the third on an 8-0 run to pull away 55-43 after 30 minutes. Kelliher had six of the eight points.
Brawner-Henley and Kelliher helped Lewis out-rebound the home squad 41-21. The Greyhounds' 21 rebounds are the fewest by a Lewis opponent since Feb. 26, 2005 when UW-Parkside had 19 boards against the Flyers. Lewis has held three straight opponents to less than 30 rebounds.
"Today was another grind out win," Gillespie said "I am very proud how we keep stepping up."Lewis improves to 8-1 (2-0 GLVC). Indianapolis falls to 1-9 (0-2 GLVC). Lewis returns home on Wednesday (Dec. 9) in a 5:30 p.m. start vs. Saint Francis (IL).
