Romeoville, Ill. -
Lewis University sophomore forward Max Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) recorded his sixth double-double of the season with a game-high 33 points and 12 rebounds, helping the host Flyers to the 83-67 non-conference victory over the Olivet Nazarene men's basketball team at Neil Carey Arena on Wednesday (Dec. 9) night.

The Hickory Hills, Ill., native went 13-for-23 from the floor, including 3-for-8 from three-point range, while adding four assists, four steals and two blocks in the victory. Flyer junior guard Capel Henshaw (Harrisburg, Ill./Harrisburg) tied a career-high with both five three-pointers and 17 points on the evening.

"It was good to get a win heading into the break (before finals)," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "I thought we did some good things tonight.

"Max obviously had a special night, Capel gave us some really good minutes and I thought (senior forward David) Heckman had a good stretch," Trost continued. "It was a good team win over a good Olivet Nazarene team that's obviously going to win a lot of games and is a Top Ten team in NAIA."

With the win, Lewis improves to 7-2 on the season, while Olivet Nazarene falls to 6-2.

Olivet Nazarene senior guard Aaron Larson topped the Tigers with 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting, along with team-bests in rebounds (8) and assists (4). Tiger senior forward Leke Solanke added 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in the loss.

The Flyers were solid defensively, as they held ONU to 38.3% (23-for-60) from the floor and forced 17 turnovers. Lewis took advantage of those Tiger miscues, scoring 31 points.

Lewis returns to action on December 19th, as they head to Ohio for a 3 PM ET regional showdown with Malone.
