Chicago Downs Lewis Women's Tennis, 6-3

Mindiyarova earns two victories for the Flyers.

Plainfield, Ill. – The Lewis University women's tennis team opened up its spring season with a 6-3 non-conference loss against the University of Chicago on Saturday (Feb. 14) at the Five Star Tennis Center. Chicago is ranked 12th in the ITA Division III National Rankings.

"The team gave a good effort today, but we just came up short," Lewis assistant women's tennis coach Uno Lapimaa said.

Lewis freshman Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) paired up with sophomore Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) for an 8-6 win over Chicago's Megan Tang and Ariana Iranpour at No. 1 doubles. In No. 1 singles action, Mindiyarova earned a 6-4, 4-6, 10-2 victory over Iranpour.

Lewis junior Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) earned a 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Tang at No. 2 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Monday (Feb. 16), as they take on Walsh for a regional match-up. First serve is set for 9 PM at the Five Star Tennis Center.
